It´s one of the best movie ever.
Seventeen-year-old Ree (Jennifer Lawrence) lives with her two younger siblings and hishopelessly ill mother in the middle of nowhere in Missouri. The family lives say the least, spartan, but seems nevertheless to make ends meet financially - until one day, as aguarantor peeking over. He announces Ree that her father left the house as bail and thatthey will lose it if he did not show up for his trial. Ree now have a week to locate a drug dealer of father and save the family's house.
As shown in the brief summary is Ree facing a tough challenge. We are on a desperate, brutal and desperate hunt; 100 minutes continuous power with an uncertain end.
Jennifer Lawrence won the award for best young actress during the Venice Film Festival2008 for his role in Guillerma Arriaga's debut film "The Burning Plain". With his role in"Winter's Bone" is establishing her name as one of the most promising actresses today.Lawrence naturalistic method of acting, which she performs with total presence, makesus as close Ree as one could get a fictitious personality. This is a budding star that willshine for years to come.
But "Winter's Bone" is so much more than just Jennifer Lawrence. The film is shot onlocation in Missouri, and the authentic atmosphere that it provides is invaluable. Indiefilms have been because of this, a dimension of intimacy that most "studio movies" can never attain, not even the good ones.
It takes great talent from all involved to create a good movie with a small budget (about$ 2,000,000). Directed by Debra Granik, whose debut film "Down to the Bone" also wonthe Sundance (this time for Best Director), has been stirring up any shred of talent froma relatively omeriterad ensemble of actors and created a masterpiece. Add the magic of music by Dickon Hinchliffe ("Red Riding: 1980") and you have the festival's delights.
